Cardoness Castle

This ancient home of the McCullochs stands on a rocky platform above the Water of Fleet. It is a fine and well-preserved fifteenth century tower-house, four storeys in height, with a vaulted basement. The fireplaces in the great hall and the upper hall or solar are particularly good. Remains of outer defences still exist. Located one mile south-west of Gatehouse of Fleet on the main road to Newton Stewart.
